Wahre Märchen II (True Fairy Tales 2)
Be careful what you wish for!
Annie Bertram is back with a bagful of true fairy tales.
In 2008, photo artist Annie Bertram published her award-winning volume of photographs called “True Fairy Tales”. Her masterly enactment of opulent scenes, often in front of a morbid backdrop, paired with reinterpretations of classic fairy tales by young and famous authors, caught the eye of the reading public and sold out of bookstores in no time.
After further successful publications, the author residing in Switzerland is now returning to known territory. Together with publishing house Feder&Schwert, which celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2014, she is now publishing the second volume of the success, “True Fairy Tales II”.
For this extraordinary project, Markus Heitz, Germany’s most successful fantasy author, master of dark humour Christian von Aster, as well as Ju Honisch, winner of the literary prize “Seraph” 2014 teamed up. Julia Becker, Oliver Graute, Oliver Hoffmann, Diana Kinne, Lea Melcher, Björn Springorum, Isa Theobald and Rona Walter complete the eleven-person team of authors that put Grimms’ Fairy Tales through the mill as well as those of Hauff and Andersen.
“True Fairy Tales II” is said to be reminiscent of the millenniums-old tradition of storytelling and gives a premonition that fairy tales can still be a moral support nowadays and are by no means just something to scare little children.
With her visionary eye for the extraordinary, Annie Bertram presents the fairy tales in a new light that often reveals abysses only at second glance or is simply dreamy, emotional and fantastic.
